The Council adopts a multi-prong strategy to encourage businesses to be family-friendly. Businesses can take the first step to be more welcoming to families by taking the Businesses for Families Pledge. The Pledge is an expressed commitment by businesses to move towards the provision of family-friendly features. Businesses which have met the specific standards relating to their strategy, services, and infrastructure and business outcomes are awarded the Businesses for Families Mark.
To encourage businesses to become more family-friendly, a $2 million Business for Families Grant was also established to provide immediate impetus for businesses to cater to the needs of families.
